Continuous control and proper maintenance guarantee reliable and good performance over a longer period of time. This section is intended for technical personnel, and states which procedures and controls has to be performed on the unit and in which interval; in addition, a checklist that can be periodically executed is given. It refers to the simple checks that can be executed with the naked eye, and that does not require any technical knowledge.
Action listed below should execute only authorized service technicians. This are made after the unit is put in operation in the specified intervals.
Before the start of the maintenance it is necessary to disconnect the unit from the power circuit. Special attention is needed when working on hot engine parts.

Moisture in the system can be determined by checking the sight glass. If moisture is determined it is necessary to change the cartridge for dehumidifying. The color sensor that is inserted varies depending on the amount of moisture in the system, shifting from green to yellow. Yellow or reddish-yellow color indicates that the cartridge can no longer absorb moisture and must be replaced.
Heavy losses on the suction filters are a sign that there is a mechanical blockage of the cartridge. Cartridges therefore need to be replaced.
The oil level in the oil receiver has to come to the upper sight glass and should never fall below the bottom sight glass. When there is a regulator of the oil level, or if the compressor does not work, the level should be at 3/8 sight glass. Notice that it is polyester oil (highly hygroscopic), with each system charge, contact with the atmosphere should be minimal to avoid excessive moisture.
In case of change of oil receiver on the unit that is already in operation, the oil should be supplied with special attention. Oil should be added 24 hours after the start of the unit (to leave enough time for the return of the residual oil in the system). If the oil level does not reach the bottom sight glass, it must be added. Conversely, if it is over the top sight glass, it has to be drained, and that is done through a valve at the bottom of the receiver.
Lifetime of safety valves Castel "3060" and "3030" is 5 years from the time of installation. After that time, regardless of whether it is still performing its function, the safety valves should be replaced.
